I can’t seem to find how to deal with mine..
I usually just take deep breaths but sometimes they are so bad that deep breathing doesnt work.
Usually if I cry they go away but how do you make them stop coming?
You have all the answers. Your deep breathing is a really good technique, well done. Another one is to focus when you feel them coming, you will know the signs. Draw your focus inwards and tell yourself that every other time this has happened it has gone away and you have been fine and that you will be just fine this time too. Keep gently repeating this to yourself (either in your mind or softly out loud). Use this along with your breathing and it will pass. Each time with practicing this regularly you will start to realise that it is not quite as frightening, let go of thinking something horrible is going to happen if you are not in control. Good luck

I am a sophomore in High School and I’ve been having panic attacks . Last week I suddenly was shaking, couldn’t breathe, had to go to the bathroom, and dizzy. It was the first time that happ ened to me and I was really scared. I thought it was never going to happen again but on Monday I ran out of class and to the bathroom due to one and Tuesday I also experienced a panic attack and run to the bathroom again. Today I had two. They seem to be getting worse as time goes on. I’ve just told my dad about it today and only one of my friends knows about the attacks. What I need to know is:
1. how can I deal with an attack when it happens again?
2. How should I tell my teachers so I can leave the class when they happen?
3. Where should I go during an attack?
I used to get a lot of panic attacks and suffer from lots of anxiety, I travel a lot and hate flying however because of my business I have to to keep it growing. I have been using NLP techniques and meditation and it seems to work pretty well however I have been looking at this site and reading all the success stories of people curing their panic attacks and anxiety naturally.

I have social phobia disorder which i havent took any meds for but the dr did try to talk me into it . the only reason i dont want meds is because i really believe i can over come this …because i feel its all in your mind an ur mind is very strong…. However panic attacks are a whole different thing an i wanna know how to deal with them without meds if they continue i will take meds because there too scary for me to deal with !!
In a very real sense, you are correct, panic is in our mind, but you miss the fact that it is also deep in our muscles in every cell of our bodies; and deeper yet in our own DNA and RNA imprints. Panic didn’t happen when the attack was triggered, panic happened in the past. Remind yourself that you survived the worst of it, panic attacks are a sign of healing.
Once you get used to panic attacks and quit being scared of when the next one will happen, it gets a whole lot easier. Medicine can be long or short acting. You can get medicine to use "as needed."
I dealt with them by repeating calmly the alphabet or the Lord’s Prayer or the words to a song over and over; anything that is very basic to you and easily remembered works.

Five years ago Jane Stern was a walking encyclopedia of panic attacks, depression, and hypochondria. Her marriage of more than thirty years was suffering, and she was virtually immobilized by fear and anxiety. As the daughter of parents who both died before she was thirty, Stern was terrified of illness and death, and despite the fact that her acclaimed career as a food and travel writer required her to spend a great deal of time on airplanes, she suffered from a persistent fear of flying and severe claustrophobia. But a strange thing happened one day on a plane that was grounded at the Minneapolis airport for six horrible, foodless, airless hours. A young man on a trip with his classmates suddenly became dizzy and pale because he hadn t eaten in many hours, and there was no food left on the plane. Without thinking about it, Jane gave him the candy bar that she had in her purse. A short time later the color had returned to his cheeks, the boy was laughing again with his friends, and Jane realized that this on

From time to time, when I skip a meal I tend to get a little light headed, and some times this leads to a mild panic attack. How to make sure I stop having these, or what are simple ways of coping with them once they come on?
The simple answer, which I’m sure you already know, is to not skip a meal.
It’s important to realize your “triggers” so that you can stop the panic attacks before they start.
Other than that, good exercises for panic attacks are deep breathing exercises. If you feel that your panic attacks are getting to the point where they are getting in the way of your daily functioning, you should probably go in to see a psychologist.

i am taking paroxetine 20 mg in morn and clonazepam 0.5 mg at night. before taking depression med. i never felt depress. the clonazepam makes me tired, sleepy. don’t which or what is causing dizziness, forgetfulness
Both medications can cause dizziness and forgetfulness. I have taken both, still take the clonazepam as needed, and I’ve been taking it for years, and it still makes me sleepy. But I’d take sleepy over a full blown panic attack any day. You didn’t say how long you’ve been on them, and I know from experience, it usually takes about 4-6 weeks to get past most of the side effects. If you are having real trouble, discuss it with your doctor, and perhaps he or she can prescribe something else that doesn’t have as many side effects. Every anti-depressant I’ve ever been on has a few side effects, so just pick your battles really, and at least give the medicine some time to do you good. Take care.

I notice when I look at people they turn away. I have anxiety, I get panic attacks. I get frustrated because I can’t just be normal and give regular eye contact… it’s like I’m trying so hard to connect but really being cautious at where my eyes go… I usually look at the ground or off some where. It sounds funny and most people when i tell them just think I’m being silly, but I can see the pain on their face too. they want to look away.
I guess keep tipping the flask. Ask the old doctor to get out his script pad and write you a prescription for 150 xanax 3 mg. I think they make them that high of a dose.

I have suffered from panic attacks and anxiety for along time now and Im just wondering how other people cope with them..besides from taking medication…how do you deal with it??What do you do when you feel one coming on? Any advice would be great.
Advice from a clinical psychologist is to breathe in to the count of 3: (one thousand one; one thousand two; one thousand three) each takes around a second to say to yourself, in your mind, and out to the count of 3.
View http://deeplyrelax.com & www.deepsloweasy.com/html/intro.htm Note: the controlled breathing only helps with the symptoms, as do medications/herbal remedies. Address the underlying cause, which requires some form of therapy; see your-mental-health.8m.com, below, re anxiety, on pages H, & I. Imagine that the cause of your panic; your anxieties, fears, your self doubts, self recriminations, all the agonizing "I’m-so-Stupids"; every painful "I-can’t-do-it" are huge raging, hurtful bulls snorting and charging at you. You see them coming at you and you hold out your red matador’s cape at arms length and simply let them charge right by. Every time they come at you, hold out your arm with the red cape and let them rage and snort and go right on past. Some people recommend nettle tea, with a little honey. Others use Lavender tea, Lemon Balm, Chamomile, but use no milk or cream with herbal teas, or Valerian (caution: use it for 3 weeks at most!). Know how these affect you before driving, or doing anything dangerous, and it is far better to use the treatments, rather than relying on herbal remedies. Free online PANIC COURSE – www.panic-attacks.co.uk also available by email. See the section on panic attacks at www.mind.org.uk also Ebooklet form. They recommend letting a panic attack run its course, without doing anything to treat it, so you KNOW you will survive it. The usual maximum is 30 minutes, until symptoms begin to subside.
