It started a couple years ago where I felt like I was going to choke at a restaurant. Ever since then I get panic attacks . I contimplate whether or not I should go out. I think about everything that could happen, like me having a panic attack.
My mind goes crazy with all kinds of thoughts. I try to clear my mind but I can’t. I have learned how to get through the attacks myself, but I hate having them. I am depressed one day then fine the next. I get angered easily. I can’t even wear earrings anymore because I have thoughts of me ripping them out of my ears… If a pencil is in my hand and I get stressed I imagine myself poking into my eye… I feel like a nut!! What’s wrong with my brain? I was fine before this. I just can’t stop thinking about me getting all freaked out. It’s me doing it to myself. I am putting all of these crazy thoughts into my head but I don’t know how to stop. I look at others and think… hmmm they are normal…. Help!
Hi, sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. The following steps will eliminate (or at least significantly reduce) your panic attacks :
1.Breathe properly – if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.
2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks , OCD and anxiety etc. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks , mine stopped completely). You can speak to your doctor about taking a course or you can take a course for free online at: www.livinglifetothefull.com
3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really make a difference if you practise often enough (i.e. twice a day). They will also help you sleep better if done at bedtime. You can get free downloads online. E.g.: http://www.studentservices.utas.edu.au/counselling/audio_resources/index.html
With each step practice makes perfect. (i.e. practice the steps every day, not just when you are feeling bad). I hope you feel better soon. Best of luck!

I would seek professional help. Being fixated on something is a sign of OCD. (Obsessive Compulsive disorder) and needs to be addressed immediately. Good Luck

its a simple chemical imbalance and there are plenty of safe meds to minimize or eliminate these thoughts completely. just see your family dr and explain to him/her the thoughts and feelings you are having. do not be embarassed. you would be very surprised the percentage of people that go thru this same thing. good luck
p.s. dont ever look at someone else and think they are normal – what IS normal?

It’s funny how our brains can take over.. I personally have had the same feelings before.. I highly recommend you see a doctor.. I was put on a medication called Lacmictal.. It’s for mood swings and has helped with my panic attacks.. I sware by it.. Just so you know, you aren’t crazy.. I live a very normal life but there are times I have felt like crashing my car into a wall..
